Our Brilliant Birmingham Collection celebrates the culture, architecture and diversity of this magnificent, creative and ambitious city.
Luminous Birmingham has been produced in a beautifully soft, natural pure cotton fabric, ideal for everyday wear, be it styled as a summer sarong or headscarf. This contemporary design features a series of finely sliced triangles to create a sense of movement, echoing the vitality of the city. The subtle background pattern within the triangles is a nod to the exterior of Birmingham’s iconic library (the largest in Europe) designed by Netherlands based architects Mecanoo who created a filigree pattern of metal rings over golden, silver and glass facades to reference the city’s jewellery quarter.
This delicate linear pattern, inspired by Birmingham Library, is nestled within the design in several layers, adding depth and vitality, just as Birmingham’s culture and heritage are woven into the city’s character. Set against a luminously light background, pinks and reds merge together to become corals, blues and greens become teal and the soft opacities which hint at background shapes help to anchor the design.
